| What gear is included? | We provide premium surfboards selected for your size and skill level, along with wetsuits and reef booties. Reef booties are essential for Okinawa's coral reef environment and are included at no extra cost. |
| What should I bring? | Please bring swimwear to wear under your wetsuit, a towel, sunscreen, and drinking water. |
| Is transportation included? | Yes. Transportation from and back to Happy Surfing Okinawa is included. We choose the best available surf location based on current wave, wind, and tide conditions. |
| Why is the lesson price ¥15,000–¥20,000? | Most surf lessons are ¥15,000. On days when the best waves are found in northern Okinawa, the lesson price may be ¥20,000 due to the additional travel required. These trips can involve up to two hours of driving each way, but they often provide access to some of Okinawa's most beautiful coastlines and best surf conditions. For many guests, these north-coast missions become a highlight of their Okinawa experience. |
| Do you offer shortboard lessons? | Our lessons focus primarily on longboarding and fun surfing experiences. While Okinawa can produce excellent shortboard waves, those conditions are often fickle and can be difficult to time during a short visit. Longboarding allows us to provide enjoyable surf experiences year-round while introducing guests to Okinawa's unique surf culture and beautiful coastline. If you are an experienced shortboard surfer visiting Okinawa, please contact us and we can discuss current conditions and possibilities. |
| Are lessons safe for beginners and children? | Absolutely. Our instructors have decades of experience surfing Okinawa's reefs and teaching surfers of all ages and skill levels, including complete beginners and children. Safety is always our top priority. |
